Dr. John H. Evans serves as Vice President, Yeast Innovation, at AB Biotek, a division of the global yeast manufacturer AB Mauri, where he leads yeast strain development. Prior to joining AB Biotek, Dr. Evans was Vice President, Science & Technology, at the ethanol producer POET, where he also was Director, Cellulosic Ethanol, and led the POET-DSM Steering Committee for Project LIBERTY, the POET-DSM Advanced Biofuels joint venture in cellulosic ethanol. Dr. Evans was Research Director at GeoSynFuels, a cellulosic ethanol start-up company in Golden, Colorado before being recruited to POET. In addition, Dr. Evans advises companies in renewable fuels and chemical production through FlatIrons Cellulosic LLC, a private consulting firm. Before joining industry, Dr. Evans was a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Dr. Evans was trained in cellular and molecular biology, receiving his doctorate in cellular and molecular biology from the Florida State University and holding post-doctoral appointments in physiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester and in cell biology at National Jewish Health (formerly National Jewish Medical and Research Center) in Denver.
